The clipboard

Every walk around a house ends with the technician signing the sheet on his clipboard: who did the work, what was found, what the customer still has coming. This page is that sheet for the six stops on this domain.

Why the notes are in English

The company works in Portuguese, in a small city in the interior of São Paulo. The six stops are written in English because the houses they describe, with crawlspaces, roll-up garage doors and front porches, are American houses, and the readers who asked for them are American men. A perimeter walk is the same job on either continent; only the architecture changes. Writing for the house the reader actually lives in seemed more useful than translating a Brazilian one.

How the domain earns its keep

Nobody pays to read these pages and nothing on them is for sale. The domain, the hosting and the time it took to write the six stops are paid for another way: the company has arrangements with online stores in the United States under which, if a reader follows a link from this domain to one of those stores and buys something there, the store pays the company a fee. The price the reader pays is the same with or without the link.

At the time this clipboard was signed there is no such link on any of the six stops or on this page. If one is added later, the page it sits on will say so plainly, next to the link, in words a reader does not have to look for. It is also possible that a filmed talk about one of those store items will be published somewhere on this domain in the future. If that happens, it will live on its own page, it will be labelled as what it is, and the six stops will stay as they are: reading pages with nothing to buy.

What a note is not

A stop on this walk is an observation from a man whose trade is insects and rodents, not a man whose trade is the body. Where a note turns to a habit of the person living in the house, it reports what some men notice and what research has looked at, in general terms, and then hands the matter to a doctor. It names no condition, recommends no treatment and promises no result. It is not medical advice and must not be read as a reason to start, stop or change anything a physician has told you to do.

What is held about a reader

Very little, and none of it by choice. Opening a page here sends your browser's request through Cloudflare, which serves the files and keeps the ordinary technical logs any hosting service keeps, such as the address the request came from and the time it arrived. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives a request for the font files when the page draws. This domain sets no cookies of its own, runs no scripts, has no forms and keeps no list of readers.

If you write to the company at the address above, your message and whatever it contains sit in the inbox until the matter is closed, then for however long Brazilian law makes a company hold on to its correspondence. The law that applies is Brazil's Law 13.709/2018, known as the LGPD. Under it you may ask what the company holds about you, ask for a copy, ask for correction or deletion, and take a complaint to the National Data Protection Authority, the ANPD, should the reply fall short. The company answers within fifteen business days. The fuller note, in English, is on the tag's data record on the front of this domain.

Conditions the notes are read under

The text of the six stops and of this clipboard belongs to the company named at the top of it. A sentence or two may be quoted with a link back; a whole stop may not be copied.

Photographs on the stops show the kind of work described, not any identifiable house, family or customer, and belong to the company as well.

Where a page links beyond this domain, the destination is run by someone else, and the company is not responsible for what is found there or for what happens after a reader leaves.

The notes are offered as they stand, with no promise of being complete, up to date or suited to a particular house, yard or body. Acting on them is the reader's own decision.

Brazilian law governs these conditions. If one line of them is found unenforceable, the others remain in force. The clipboard may be re-signed; whichever version is pinned here when you read it governs.

Issued in November 2026. Questions about any line on it go to contato@riseinyourbest.com and are answered by the company whose name is on it.
